the yidaki, one of the oldest instruments for the contemporary dance floor
Interesting. I have to admit to a love of unusual musical instruments. I find them intriguing.
when i lived at the west coast i got myself a yidaki & had a few basic tutorials. it is easy to the point where it comes to the circular breathing, & then it becomes all about continuous practice every day - i'm just too undisciplined...
@walklightly I have had the same consistency problem with guitar practiced.
@LB67, i'd probably twang my fingers into knots.
And this is how Charlie McMahon and Gwondanaland did it 30 years ago -
i like how the didge slowly appears from the background here.
@walklightly it is a good job the dodge doesn't have note holes like flutes, recorders etc. Otherwise Charlie having a metal claw for a left hand would have a problem fingering them. He may have progressed to a rubber prosthesis now.
Human voice amplified? Am I hearing this right?
yidaki (didjeridoo) amplified more like.
I’ve just read up on it....fascinating. Nice to learn something new musically. I like its sound, and will look on the didgeridoo in a new light from now on!
thank you, i love to share my darlings
