What an odd form of music. I can picture it starting with a bunch of metalworkers spicing up their workday. The little hammers are somehow mesmerizing. Interesting.

I was in Bali quite a few years ago and heard this music. What is the story with them, some of the musicians are not Balinese? Is it a University band?

as far as i can see this is a performance at the university of waterloo, ontario, so some caucasian features are to be expected.

@walklightly Yes I thought so....very difficult to play, took a lot of practice. I saw a few performances of this sort of music when I was in Bali, smaller number of musicians though and usually accompanied by the traditional Balinese dancers.
