I joined the group a couple of months ago and immediately got distracted by other things and forgot all about it! Back now though and enjoying looking through some of the posts. Here's my return contribution. I'm going to see Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba in Liverpool tomorrow. Saw them a couple of years ago and they were a delight. Particularly memorable was the encore in which the bass player and one of the percussionists did a 10 minute duet on talking drums!
They are from Mali. The band are all members of Bassekou's family, including his wife Amy Sacko who sings lead vocals.

Interesting instruments.

It's a 4-string instrument called a ngoni (hence the band's name). It amazes me how they can pick out notes on such a tiny round neck.

@ChrisDancer Unlike manually manufacturing electronic goods at least the musicians have a rhythm to help them move their fingers with dexterity.

I love African music, I'm going to post a few from the band I have obsessed over for a year or 3 now.
