Sukiyaki Kyu Sakamoto
Beautiful song, a Number 1 in the Billboard charts in America. It's name in Japanese is something like "I look up". The lyrics are very sad and nothing to do with the one "A taste of Honey" sang.
"I look up while I walk so the tears won't fall
Remembering those spring days, but tonight I'm all alone
I look up while I walk counting the stars with teary eyes
Remembering those summer days, but tonight I'm all alone
Happiness lies beyond the clouds, happiness lies above the sky..."
Singer Kyu Sakamoto, along with 519 other passengers on the flight, was killed in the crash of Japan Airlines in 1985; the deadliest single-aircraft accident to date.
I think this is the only Japanese song I know.

@ipdg77 just a tad different from Sukiyaki!
Not quite, @Marionville, sometime ago I posted "Hotaru" by Masaharu Fukuyama and you liked it. Then during your trip I posted 3 more Japanese songs: "Green days" by Off Course, "Tsunami" by Southern All Stars and "Poetry of Gods" an instrumental by Himekami. Kindly listen to them when you have time, and enjoy it!
@Merseyman1 I will certainly go back and listen. What I really meant was Sukiyaki is the only one that I can instantly recall and remember from my memory as being Japanese. I’m sure you and others have more recently introduced me to some ....but I couldn’t hum their tunes!
