It probably alludes to god...without actually naming him...yes. Morten Harket does say he believes in god, but he is more of a philosopher and is into his Norwegian folklore and poetry.

Thank you very much...never thought to google it. It probably alludes to god, but thatās okay....it doesnāt mention him by name. I like the tune, and have it on a playlist...I listen to a lot of European music, Scandinavian and Italian mostly. Not understanding the words isnāt a barrier to my enjoyment.
@Marionville now getting the translation is as easy as obtaining a copy of the lyrics in digital form.
