Sergio George’s Salsa Giants. - Bajo La Tormenta.
You almost makes me Cry... that is Old San Juan... Old Stumping Grounds since the late 60's. The song is about surviving Hurricanes and Storms in Puerto Rico. Sergio George is without doubt one of the Most Prolific Salsa Arrangement Guys ever. Working with all kinds of Salsa Artists and Bands. Not everyone among the singers featured are Puerto Ricans... The great Oscar de Leon is from Venezuela... he is shown with India from New York Half Cuban, Half Rican... By one of those things I saw both Artists while I was living in Germany late last Century. Because Puerto Rico is so small... I had met some of those featured.... Ismael Miranda, that I just saw during the Salsa Congress in Las Vegas on Early August... Surprisingly still has the same voice, tone and everything... to my surprise he had not gotten old like many others... During the late 1980's I had a meeting with him to work on some of my songs, but I was back then in the Navy and I wasn't that interested in leaving behind My Naval Career for chasing Butterflies or Dreams. Or dedicating the attention needed so I blew him off instead of his recommendation of meeting a renown arrangement guy he suggested me to do to work on my music. No Regret whatsoever. Another of the singers Andy Montanez I attended all 3 years of Jr High with two of his sisters plus his brother was a year ahead of us. I had been to his parents home. Well he was from the neighborhood, I am coming home to stay at the end of this month... All excited about it. Sergio George is one of those guys that works behind the curtains making singers and bands shine with his arrangements. Thank You for the Memories!!!
I’m pleased to do so...and thanks for filling me in with the details.
