As I promised yesterday...because it’s 25th January and Burns’ Day in Scotland, I’m posting my second of his songs. This is one I particularly like and have sung it as a solo many times. Ye Banks And Braes O’ Bonny Doon. The Doon is a river in Ayrshire close to Burns’ home in Alloway, this delightful accompanying video illustrates its beauty which inspired him to write the poem which was later set to music. The singer is Madelaine Cave. Tonight there will be glasses raised in his memory at Burns Suppers all around the world...so although it’s a wee bit early in the day...here’s to you Rabbie, slainthe! 🥃. And to all other Scots out there...Here’s tae us, wha’s like us? Damn few an’ they’re a’ deid! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Aye the day is here. I'm off to a tiny pub here to watch our local group The Train Wrecks celebrate. Last year 'twas the wife and I watching. This year alone but I'll not drink more.
In 1991 aGalloway landlord offered us a pheasant but that wife was vegetarian and so he said we were welcome to go out to the fields and gather some turnips.

Did you not have haggis...that’s the traditional fare tonight! They even do a vegetarian version so I’m told !! 😁

@Marionville I had it in Scotland with take out curry sauce. Loved it.

@Marionville We have two brand new brew pubs but food you get outside and bring in.

@rogerbenham CURRY SAUCE....on our national dish! Rabbie would be spinning somewhere if he knew that!!
