Alberto Cortez singing his composition with a more modern jazzy arrangement. Story goes he wrote "A partir de Manana", in English "Starting Tomorrow". When he turned 40 years old... as a sendoff to his last 40 years and a welcome to his next 40 years. He died at age 79 years old.
Here is an English Translation of "A Partir de Manana". Sometimes the songs I include here are not as "Worldly" in Music but in Substance, in the Lyrics, are the "Classics" of the Spanish Language... and as the Classics of the Spanish Language are very Worldly to me that learned to live in two languages since a child but Spanish will always be my Native Tongue and Prose, Verse and Song of The World in My Life.
Starting tomorrow
Starting tomorrow, I will begin to live half of my life;
starting tomorrow, I will begin to die half of my death;
starting tomorrow, I will begin to return from my one way trip;
starting tomorrow, I will begin to consider each luck stroke.
Starting tomorrow I will begin to live a healthier life,
which means, tomorrow I will begin to roam through better paths;
the best tobacco and also, why not, the best apples,
the best diversion and, at the best table, the best wine.
Until today, I was just what I am, 'Quixote's apprentice'
I have been able to fight and, at times, win, without loosing my mustache.
Now I must think that the bells can't stop tolling,
even if I have to do more than I did today and yesterday...
starting tomorrow.
If starting tomorrow I would decide to live half of my death,
or starting tomorrow I would decide to die half of my life,
starting tomorrow I should accept the fact that I am not the strongest,
that I don't have the nerve nor the modesty to hide my deep wounds.
If starting tomorrow I would decide to live a relaxing life,
and I would stop being a dreamer to become a more serious guy,
everybody, tomorrow, could say: 'your batteries are off,
you have no light, you are no longer worth, your mystery is over.
Each luck stroke I will begin to consider starting tomorrow.
From my one way trip, I'l begin to return, starting tomorrow
The half of death i will begin to die starting tomorrow.
The half of my life I will begin to live... starting tomorrow.
When are you releasing your "tomorrow I will have lived ⅔ of my life . . ."
Thanks for the translation - being llazy it is much appreciated - I didn't have to get out mmy 4 way microphone & attach it to the phone translation app.
