And to follow up on the heels of the Zorba performance I decided upon this rendition of the Jewish Hava Nagila performed by Roy Howard on classical guitar and Whiskey Mick on mandolin. It is claimed that this is the world's best version. IMO it is performed with precision, timing and synchronicity but is it performed with heart? I think that I have heard better.
You may be right, this 'studio'/home performance doesn't fully give the song credit. what it needs is an animated crowd, participating with shouts & dance
Exactly my thoughts. It needs life. Or as a member of the Melbourne SO said to his son "You can play or sing pitch perfect, word perfect but audiences will only perfunctorily applaud you for your talent. Play or sing from the heart ... The audience will forgive your mistakes and in most cases not hear them, they will be swept up in the emotion that you share and engender. They will still be applauding you in a year's time."
Sadly the world has become afraid to share its love, its emotion, its PASSION.
@FrayedBear, i just started a second round of 'power in the voice', a workshop for everyone to improve the singing voice, & the focus is very much on fun & singing from the heart. tonight is our second session... & am i anxiously looking forward to it!
@walklightly Go read my post on Zorba then tryout before you go tonight.
How's the property resolution going?
@FrayedBear, atm i get gifted with all sorts of offers. found a great old queenslander style with a choice of spacious rooms & an active garden with fruit trees in lismore. my top choice currently.
@walklightly Sounds good. Price ok?
