Everybody finds their own meaning in this and other pieces of music, or poetry, or art...or nature. We use whatever we need personally to survive.
This is how I feel when I think I have lost my dreams. Comfortable numb.

Great song...one of the best. I never remember my dreams so never feel a loss for them. I don’t really formulate any unrealistic ambitions, or what you may describe as “dreams”, so rarely incur a feeling of loss there either. Comfortably numb sounds like something you’d feel under the influence of drink or drugs...and was probably was the condition under which the song came to be written I’d imagine..
