Opinion piece published by RT re China/ Australia trade relations. A fairly accurate assessment I feel. Diplomacy is sadly lacking nowadays. Don't our politicians understand "saving face" in Asian business or more importantly, don't let partners lose face over, as the author states, doing another nations bidding

To my way of thinking Australia should just say to China, " Be like that, we can easily find a dozen other countries elsewhere that would be only too willing and happy to accept our grain, etc, and the same goes for our Iron Ore and other minerals as well, and in the words of your ancient, back-handed saying, May you live a long and uneventful life."
The Politicians seem so firmly to be under the impression that We need to export to China that they can't see the wood for the trees, unfortunately, and, imo, China has them strung out like marionettes waiting in the wings for the next performance.
It high time that WE told THEM, IF want what we have to offer then WE set the terms and prices, NOT you.
@powder they also have long memories.
Whether they will still have money after USA reneges on the trllion dollars that it owes is another question. For too long Australians have espoused the crass "money talks".
@powder I notice that Russia has almost got rid of all its US Treasury Bonds. I suspect that China couldn't give a brass razzoo as foreign investment inChina to take advantage of cheap labour far exceeds that amount.
@Cyklone Nice analysis BUT IF Australia wants to come out this pandemic as an accountable country and grow stronger IT NEEDS to cease completely relying upon China and the U.S., stand on its own feet, start manufacturing locally, recruiting and training local Australians, educating Australians better than they are these days, stop importing Skilled Workers from overseas, start producing products from own resources and not just sending stuff like iron-ore, etc, over to China and having them produce it and sell it back to us, set OUR prices on exported stuffs like grains, etc, etc, and STOP Foriegn Ownership of Australian Lands, Companies, etc, etc and that INCLUDES the U.S., England and every other country as well.
No more pandering, arse-kissing, boot-licking and kowtowing to ANYONE, WE stand as 1 Nation, One Peoples and WE demand to be RESPECTED as Australians.
