This is titled "Nation's disgrace"
For me, it actually makes me proud to be Australian, first time for a long time.
This is because we are following the rule of law and it will improve things within the military. We are investigating and prosecutions seem likely. Compare this to the US who respond by;
Sanctioning war crime prosecutors
lock up whistleblowers (Chelsea Manning)
Covering it up generally.
Thesse foot soldiers went a bit psyco and need to answer for murder. I do wish the same applied to the pricks that sent them there to occupy a foreign country to help imperial America.
Mind you, it was a close call with police raiding the ABC journo's home/ office. So well done ABC in this case. Kudo's where kudo's are due. It also emphases why all Australians need to fight for Assanges freedom, because the Yanks don't play by the same rules we do ie international law. Not a hope in hell Assange ever getting a fair trial in the states.
I always support our service men/ women. I do not support neocon pricks who put them in harms way in the name of "Defense".
Do not be to fast to praise Australian adherence to international law.
The country long ago signed the human rights covenants but we have no bill of rights protecting the citizens.
I too have been keeping up with this shameful, disgusting, utterly disgraceful episode, Prosecute the Perpetrators BUT DO NOT stop with just the Soldiers, take it right through to the Top and beyond, including John Howard who sent them over there.
FFS, Our ANZACS in WWI and WWII were decent respected respectable and honorable men, they'd be literally turning in their graves if they knew just how low some of our soldiers have descended.
