Took shit from No-one, was a staunch Labor and Union Man, a great successor to Gough Whitlam even though there many years between Gough and Paul parliamentary-wise.
Had Paul manage to get in as P.M. i am of the opinion our country WOULD have been a TRUE Democratic Republic by now, stand firmly on its OWN 2 feet on the International stage and NOT the puppet of England and the United States of Absurdity.

You've got to be joking. Admittedly he was frequently the only competence within the Hawke "watch my ego" - Keating governments and head & shoulders above what came after.
