So a right wing think tank funded by rich white Australians has written a piece in the Age criticising Getup for openly accepting small payments from an ethical bank owned by its customers!
I was very interested in the Get Up organization, they have a similar colour scheme to that of the New Democratic Party in Canada. Just sayin'. But the irony of the name Advance Australia it quite something. Of course there is the Anthem and the animals in the emblem. I was told that the Kangaroo and the Emu are on there because they are animals that cannot go backwards. Well it seems that Advance Australia is going in reverse as are most conservative political parties in the world. They want to go back to simpler times when life was simpler and the rich dominated so clearly. Does sound very advancey to me.
Have a look at Clive Palmers political party. Palmer is currently in the process of transferring operations to New Zealand in preparation for suing the West Australian government for $45 billion...very Australian and uniting! I would not be surprised to find that he is a significant funder of the Advance Australia organisation.
@FrayedBear Poor Old Clive, been in a VERY long and erotic relationship with his own 'Mrs. Palmer and her 5 daughters' for way, way too long in my opinion.
True, the 'roo and emu cannot move backwards unlike most of the Australian Political Parties who seem to be eternally stuck in reverse gear these days.
@Triphid Beautiful riposte! LMAO.
@FrayedBear Thank you, I tried my very best on that one.
Entitled rich right wingers haven't the imagination to conceive of people and companies, even banks, supporting an organisation I personally think has added so much to our democracy.
I have mixed thoughts on Getup. They are very thin-skinned and can be dictatorial and unsupportive/disloyal to supporters...Very similar to political parties and the Whip system.
@FrayedBear Yes, at times they've not acted well. However, I think it is good for democracy in a country that is not historically politically very engaged. The late Patrick White wrote that the love of sport in Oz addles our brains when it comes to politics etc. I tend to agree with him.
@Doubting lol. I follow neither, don't do drugs and still think that I'm frequently brain addled.
