A new financial year here in Australia and a new era of Royal representation with a new Governor General David Hurley being sworn in on the first of July. Will this bode well for democracy and law & order in Australia?
Already the reports are appearing and accusations of "lack of due diligence" being made regarding the selection process.
Shame Dowling one of the few journalists left in Australia speaks out:
This story contains not even one clear substantial allegation against Hurley. It's poor journalism to allege without some kind of substantial evidence to back it up.
To quote the article -
"But was due diligence done given David Hurley was up to his neck in the infamous ADFA Skype sex-tape cover-up scandal in Canberra?"
And
"When the story hit the media the federal police said after further review the incident happened on federal land so it is also covered by federal laws so they would investigate further. That was scandalous and such an obvious attempt at a cover-up as all of Australia is covered by federal laws whether it is federal land or not and the AFP always had the ability to investigate and the AFP and ADFA knew it."
And
" One of the laws that has been breached in the Defence sex tape scandal is:
Section 474.17 of the 1995 Criminal Code:
474.17 Using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence"
The latter being put to the Police Commissioner in writing.
What evidence do you expect a journalist to provide? A sworn affidavit from the GG and Commissioner of Police that no cover up occurred and there was no conspiracy to pervert the course of justice?
@FrayedBear No, I expect evidence beyond a statement of allegation to indicate Hurley was involved in the cover up. It wouldn't be hard.
That is fucked! I didn’t know if this shit in our red and barren land!
Who decides who becomes Gov-Gen bearing in mind that the post is the rep of Mrs Queen!
Parliament (PM) advises the Queen I think but don't quote me.
@FrayedBear Of course, they really fuck it up don’t they!
