One that I have yet to try. Has anyone else tried eating succulents? If so which?
Sea spurge, quite tasty in a salad. Grows wild in most of coastal southern Aus. But if you are a steak and chips man, forget plant based bush food; you will probably think there isn't enough of it and when there is it tastes like grass. A bit like crocodile and snake, all tastes like chicken.
During the Highland Clearances in Scotland the dispossessed Highlanders often had to live off seaweed. The beaches became known as the "Long Meadows".
@FrayedBear interesting, I didn't know that. My parents ate "lava bread" which was made from seaweed, but they also ate tripe so there is no accounting for some tastes.
@Catholic Tripe wasn't rationed in WWII. We had it in the 50's served raw with salt, pepper and vinegar!
@FrayedBear a stronger stomach than mine I can assure you.
@Catholic lol, actually it is incredibly easily digested. I recall seeing Russian circus trainers using unbleached tripe to reward the performing tigers.
