Today's guests of the large variety. Actually they have been showing up in larger numbers for the last few years. What does that mean?

Climate change, destruction of habitat....take your pick. When I was a kid, my grandparents got me a book on North American birds (still have it). It gave the region of every species. I remember seeing that the Bald Eagle was only supposed to be in my area during the winter, so the first time I saw one in the middle of summer about 15 years ago, I was shocked! Now they are here year round, as are some other species that have migrated over here to stay.

Heard a flock of them go over at about 3am this morning. A lovely sound, but I've never heard them travel at night in July before. Something is afoot.
