I have always had difficulties coming up with an adequate display for the stuff I sell at SF conventions. My stuff ranges from jewelry, solar cells, solar powered cockroaches, UFO detectors and so on.
My previous display was a heavy pegboard cube held together with electrical wire weaved through the holes. It did not work well.
I went through several ideas, and then I thought: why not use PVC pipe? The stuff can me made into anything. I made myself a walking cane out of it, so making a display would be no problem.
Below is an illustration of what I will be building. The feet on the bottom are rotated so you can see them better, That square thing with the dots on it is a piece of 2' x 4' pegboard. Illustration #2: the display in proper perspective, seen from the front.
This is not going to be a small display piece: it will handle all of my necklaces and bracelets, as well as my bagged items. Cost? About $20, glue and primer included.
Don't be afraid to work in metal. It's easier than a lot of people think
My dad did that. He bought himself an arc welder, and he would use electrical conduit to make art displays, and sell them. It was great fun listening to him. It went like this:
"Zzzzzttt" "God damn it!" "Zzzzzzzzztttt" "God damn it!" Over and over, like clockwork.
@Robotbuilder lololol!! I think we've all been there
Looks like a good design. I hope it will be stable enough once all the weight is on it.
I'm using 3/4" PVC pipe. The same I used with my cane. It PVC pipe can support my weight, then a few necklaces and so on should be no problem.
