My Mom now lives in a long-term care facility.
I've made a few sensory muffs and have shared them with some of the folks my Mom's home.
They're like fidget toys - they're tactile and have moving parts.
It's supposed to help with anxiety and helps to de-stress; gives them something to focus on. They don't work for everyone, but they have certainly helps some, including my Mom. 🙂
The first picture (2nd batch) shows them flat out before being sewed onto a muff shape as in the second picture (1st patch).
Let me know if you would like any more info.
They are pretty easy to make.

Those are the nicest I have seen! Are they for sale?

I've thought about it, but I haven't yet.
I would be happy to send you one. 🙂
You can be my test shipment. 😉

@scurry I got a "delete content" from the managers. So I guess never want to buy something? Not sure why?

@Hathacat I'm not sure what you mean. But my offer still stands. If you would like me to, I can send you one.

@scurry You are so kind, but I don't want to get either of us in trouble, and I don't know what the delete content was for. But I admiration still stands! They are awesome!

I had a soft book kinda like that when I was a kid. Interesting!

Yes. Very much like a young child's toy. It seems we regress to our childhood as we age.
Poetic maybe, but also sad to watch.

@scurry i was in a dementia care unit in Maine.they ha numeroud little rooms and alcoves wit tromp le oil *sp) paintings of different scenes in Maine usually furnished like a kitchen with real antique utensils and such, the residents loved those spaces

@btroje That sounds like a great place. Is it like one of the 'butterfly' places I've heard about?
My Mom's place is not great in every respect, but the staff are. They care and they try to make it more like a home. Slowly they're putting colourful art on the walls, setting up acticities. The staff can make all the difference, and don't always get the deserved credit.

@scurry Never heard of a "butterfly" place. If you like the staff and they love on your mom that is worth the cost of any super fancy place
