I cut the barrel of the telescope down. The lens arrived, so I glued it in place, attached the focuser and-- blobs.
So I went and measured the focal length of the objective lens. The focal length is essential for a telescope: the telescope has to be the same length (about) as the focal length of the objective lens. The company I bought it from told me about 255mm (about 10 inches).
I did the standard test: I used a light bulb and my bedroom wall. I got a focal length of about 305mm (12 inches).
Those 2 inches are very important. I wrote to the company, asking for clarification, but have heard nothing.
So it looks like I will have to do some more cutting, and I might have to ditch the barrel I've been cutting on, and cut (and paint) a new one.
