Well, let me start with a question a little to the side of our common passion. Do you get asked about the cost of your hobby ? My hand spinning friends all report that well-meaning people have come up to them saying in earnest: "ÿou can buy beautiful yarn at JoAnn Fabrics or Hobby Lobby. Why are you spending so much money on a spinning wheel?"" So I am asking you, fellow creators:
What is the joy of creating worth to you? Do you have to justify yourself to anybody and how do you handle it?

@dbaecht I was given a Kaleidoscope in the hospital in the old country when I ran into a truck and broke my femur. I think it was to keep me entertained ( before TV in Germany) while they did painful things with my leg. I tried and tried to get the same patterns back, but never could quite remember. It was quite heavy, but oh, the colors and shapes and patterns.
Where are we going?

I know back in the day it would be on bikes!
@btroje You know, there is a really prosaic reason for my motorcycle riding. In Germany, you are required tot ake 120 hours of driving school before taking the test. Motorcycles only required about one third of that time, so it was much, much cheaper. I took mt test on a Vespa, an Italian scooter. I looked very cool! But let's not kid ourselves, I loved the bike. Was in a club where we met every Saturday morning for racing and eating an drinking. I won the Ladi;s Cup twice'( I was the only female who showed up with her own bike) Ah happy days!
