How cute!! Are they a boy and a girl and will there be babies?
Actually, this species is all female, being parthenogenic. That means they can lay fertile eggs without males.
Hence, the common name, Mourning Gecko, which is supposed to denote grieving over their lost hubbies.
They are nearly fully grown (shown life size) and should start laying in Spring
@Leafhead I wonder how in nature that happens - musta missed the boat.
@silverotter11
IDK, but it happens in several species of gecko and whip tail lizards, as well as some salamander species.
It has a lot to do with when two closely related vertebrate species hybridize.
Parthenogenesis is also found in the insect world, mostly in the Suborder Homoptera (aphids, mealie bugs and scale mostly).
It's simply animals cloning themselves.
