THE NEW YORK BEAUTY BLOCK IS A VERY OLD QUILT DESIGN THAT HAS MANY VARIATIONS.
Earlier versions of this block had different names, including Crown of Thorns and Rocky Mountain. The name New York Beauty came about in the early 1900s. Many like to think that the triangles display the “beauty” of the Statue of Liberty. Much debate and curiosity surrounds the name of this beloved block, since it appears to have originated in the Southern states and not in New York at all. These are the left over New York Beauty blocks from my NYB quilt. I’ll post the finished quilt later. These blocks are so addictive that I was at the sewing machine for hours.

@Holiday Oh goody!!
Those are amazing!! I am really looking forward to the finished quilt. I saw right away the Statue of Liberty connection (the one I prefer) but those southern bible belt states would come up with the crown of thorns.
BEAUTIFUL squares the colors are some of my favorites! TY for posting.
