I really love to do embroidery although I am not that skilled with my stitches nor do I know the names of them...I do the "stab" method of embroidery...stab the needle into the fabric and hope it turns out! lol
My youngest great nephew is quite the pistol...when he was quite young, he never listened to anyone and had a favorite saying...I made this for him and his mother because I just thought it showed his independent personality. He is now a respectful 6 year old and wants a new embroidery with his latest favorite saying...I might need to get his Mom's permission to do it....
YES! Independence is a good thing. Along with that goes critical thinking. I see what you did there - when do we find out the newest mantra .
PS - Nice job!!
It is F*ck is a Cuss Word...he apparently gets a quarter each time an adult says it, so he is an enterprising young dude! ha ha
@thinktwice That's great. An entrepreneur in the making!!
During the 60s and 70s into the very early 80s I always had some hand embroidery project going. It was calming, and creative. While,I did know all of the stitches, and could make the top of my work look good, I was never able to achieve the lofty ideal of having the back of the work look as good as the front!
When I upgraded sewing machines I purchased one with an embroidery function. The machine embroidery is superb. However it is time consuming, and if it is your only machine, you are stuck while the embroidery is going. The next two machines had no embroidery function. The current machine has the typical myriad decorative stitches and alphabets.
I am a garment sewist, that had a brief tango with machine embroidery.
Your embroidery piece is adorable. The new saying, well that would d finietley require a mother's permission!
I discovered a fabulous way to use the hoop as a frame and then cover the back so it is not seen...it has really made me much freer in doing designs I enjoy.
I also have an embroidery sewing machine that I was given by Brother to test and review. I love it! They gave me lots of interesting patterns, including a whole set of Australian flowers, but I love the designs from Urban Threads that you can download with your computer...
I also love to sew clothes...but haven't had the time lately...thank you for your comment...I am sure my little one is going to be distracted with school and sports and leave me to work on my next project...ha ha ha
That's precious, really clever, cheeky, and sweet. I love it!
Thanks...the one he wants now says "F*ck is a cuss word"...he gets a quarter each time his dad or mom says it...he is a little business man...ha ha ha...I don't think his mom will approve...he is only 6...
@thinktwice that kid is going places!!
@stinkeye_a I think so! His parents are progressive millenials that have taught him some pretty awesome things..
