This is SO relatable to me. I can't even count how many times I've heard "You're so talented, you should sell this!" or "Make a business for yourself!". It makes me not enjoy creating because I feel like if I'm not selling it, it's not good. We shouldn't feel obligated to monetize our creativity.
I've had to explain why I didn't want to go to craft fairs to sell my shell frames. I've given them as gifts, and kept the nicest ones for myself...and that's about it. I don't want a full time project. I found out it's valuable when i visited the "Shell man" and Shell world stores in the Keys; similarly framed mirrors sell for hundreds. I'm just happy knowing whoever received them knows they have a valuable craft-art creation.
You're not alone, I just enjoy making presents instead of making a commitment to work
I so agree with that
