Work in progress! I'm making a black and white polka-dotted dress for my daughter's 8th grade graduation and dance, with a scarlet petticoat. We bought bright red shoes to go with it. Anyway, I get so excited when I see my visions coming together! The pics are the current status of the petticoat. I am reusing the base of a petticoat I made for an angel costume for her a few years ago.
@FlippantLlama @thinktwice I made this for Halloween a few years ago.
You rocked it! I love the unexpected color...people who sew can really use their imagination...
I loved making costumes for burlesque performers because they had such wild and clever ideas and it challenged me to come up with a way to work...hand sewing tons of sequins was not my favorite, but now they have fabric already done!
If it were not for sewing and other crafts, I would probably go nuts...it also helps me not snack......it is a nice way to bond with others as well...lots of fun and sharing...
The one who dies with the most fabric wins?!
@FlippantLlama I bet your stash is fab...I am such a fabric voyeur...stacks of fabric makes me actually drool... lol
@FlippantLlama I just fabragasmed...
@FlippantLlama How did your project turn out? You are welcome to come here and help me organize the fabric stash. Use caution when opening the door to the spare room
@FlippantLlama Fabulous! Sorry, I missed the other post.
Nice re-purpose! Can't wait to see more!
lol I can never throw out anything just in case...ha ha ha the curse of a seamstress...ha ha ha
@FlippantLlama Yeah...I have such a closet...amazing what a cape, a long black velvet dress, a few petticoats and a corset or two can be turned into...ha ha ha
I think I still have a couple of things from my grandmother and she has been gone more than 2 decades.
@FlippantLLama How many sewing machines does everyone have? Two straight stitch and two sergers (one barely works) for me.
@MizJ I have two straight stitch/zig zag ones; a Brother embroidery/multi-stitch one and a Kenmore variable stitch serger. I also have two vintage Singers...one works, the other is a boat anchor but I keep it for sentimental reasons.
@thinktwice You win!
@MizJ I have been sewing for over 50 years...I want a more modern on when I move as well...my Brother is from 2013...
@thinktwice My Brother is from 2001, it is computerized. I also have a Janome heavy duty which is far more recent that I use for quilting and anything that I can't use 100% poly thread.
