The epoxy should , if done in a thin layer, make the whole thing stronger and seal the acrylic to the canvas, as well as give it a glossy finish. Personally, I'd mask off the photo area and do the color swirl in a thin layer, then unmask the photo and do a very thin layer of clear over the entire surface. Don't forget the heat gun or torch for the resin to pop the air bubbles!
