Seeing photos posted by @Caroleanne made me nostalgic for the good ole days when I worked in that industry, so I went digging in the ancient archives...
This is the Librarian Tigger I built for Disneyland Paris
The oval inset in the first image shows the tiny gray maquette they gave me to work from. I sculpted the full figure and built the mechanical arm that stamped a Disney logo on books that were purchased in the store. I told Disney that, the way they had designed it, the figure/customer interaction would present a potential hazard, but they were unconcerned... "the show must go on!" I see that they have now deactivated the figure. I wonder how many little fingers had to get smashed before they figured out it was a bad idea. The second image is the finished figure.
Wonderful! You are lucky, you spent your life doing what I would have loved to do. Unfortunately, I spent my early years with people who said repeatedly "you can't make a living as an artist" so even though I always got A's in art classes I took, I didn't consider it a legitimate road to take. I did sculpt for fun over the years. Wood and clay are my favorite mediums.
Well, regrets about roads not taken aren't productive but I can't avoid a little envy.
Well, they weren't necessarily giving you bad advice. I never made any money, but it was interesting work. Have you posted some of your work here?
