WEE Tiny carvings. I said in another post, I've done some tiny carvings and would post if I found them. I still have one of the walnut shell "boxes" they went in and a couple of the little animals. I also found a wee tiny polar bear, actually carved from tagua nut, aka: vegetable ivory. It is a tropical nut, related to Brazil nuts, which when dried can be carved and finished to look like ivory. It is hard to tell in the picture because it is so small but in larger projects, the finish is very lovely.
The nut is harder to carve than wood, power carving is best but it does carve with a knife, which is what I use. The actual sizes of the carvings are, squirrel is 3/4" tall, the coyote is 7/8" tall and the bear is 1/2" from nose to tail.
I can see the finish on the bear is different and lovely!! These are very cool!!
