My electrician lives near a woman who had 2 German shepherds. They are acres and acres apart yet the dogs were left alone outside most all the time. He liked the dogs a lot but considers the owner irresponsible, cruel and inhumane. The female showed up at his house about 3 weeks ago and he was so fed up because she'd leave a bowl of food for the dogs outside then take off for weeks sometimes returning to fill the bowls. So when the female showed up this last time he took her to the shelter. Owner would have to pay $200 to get her out and he figured she wouldn't and he could adopt her legally. She came up with $200 then within 2 weeks time said to him ''I hope you're happy now, she's dead.'
So the male showed up at his house recently and he knew I was an ACO and fostered shepherds, and own 2 now so he brought him to me. I felt every bone in his body he was so thin, he limped, his nails were so long his feet were sideways when he walked. I cut his nails, took him to the vet, got a rabies shot and the vet said he was closer to 12 than the 9 my electrician thought.
My dilemma, he's wicked sweet and kisses me all the time. He as separation anxiety to the point he ate his way out of a crate. I put him there for his own safety. He weighed 66 lbs and my male weights almost twice that. This guy I renamed Luke and the vet said he may have testicular cancer. So my poll is:
1- should I neuter him fearing the cancer OR
2-he's too old and don't bother to neuter.
