There is a live-action Japanese version of "Death Note" that I enjoyed watching for that reason. And I can now totally geek out and mention an episode of Bones - The Girl in the Mask - with an androgynous character named Haru Tanaka (Dr. Tanaka). I have watched it again and again, because there is something so compelling and sexy about the character.

I sort of dug Brooklyn, the Gargoyle. Not sure why. I think it was the hair and the attitude. I also had a mad crush on Marine Boy as an 8 year old. It was a short-lived anime from Japan. [en.wikipedia.org] And I really liked the second oldest Chan son in the Charlie Chan and the Chan Clan series. Nowadays, I prefer my men animated but not digitally animated.
