What I've noticed lately is that the default desktop environment for a distro is the one that works best. Devuan's default is xfce and it's working okay. My only complaint is the mouse logo. 😛

Prefer it for remote GUI, i.e. through xrdp or similar.

I never used that. Could never get it working. Not sure why. I always just used SSH with X forwarding if I really needed a remote GUI (which I never really do, for my servers).

@alxa Right, I use SSH with X forwarding as often as possible too but in a mixed environment xrdp can be convenient. Session management can be an issue, though.
