@AnneWimsey Sorry BUT counseling does NOT really relieve the Loco Driver, etc, from the absolute horrors of hitting a person/s in any way shape nor form. I spent many years on the Railways in the B. D. & C. Crews and saw sights from Loco/Train Collisions that turn your stomach with the shattered pieces of bodies, the blood, guts, etc, etc, spread everywhere. I've known Loco Drivers who have literally ' gone to pieces' even after intensive counseling sessions plus a few who have been so badly shattered emotionally that they have committed suicide to try to escape from the horrors they have witnessed. Those truly horrific images become so deep burned in to your memories that absolutely nothing can remove or erase them and I have far more than my 'fair share' of them as well.

I left nursing and joined the Railways, part of that job involved being in the Derailment, Breakdown and Collision Crew. Derailment - a Rail Wagon or a part of a Freight train comes off the rail, usually miles away from the nearest Railway Depot and in the middle of nowhere, you HAVE to go and put it back on the rails, sometimes you are dealing with either a wagon with 40 tons of High Explosives teetering precariously on the edge of a rail embankment, or, 20,000 litres of HIGHLY inflammable liquids in tankers, a Diesel-Electric Locomotive weighing in at 130 tons, Breakdowns - a Diesel-Electric Locomotive has either 'shot' one of its 10 or 12 pistons through the top of the cylinder OR ha caught fire and 5,000 litres of Diesel Fuel are blazing away also in the middle of nowhere. then comes the very worst job of the worst jobs, Collision - Some rank IDIOT has decided that he/she can BEAT a 3,000+ Freight Train traveling at 90 - 100 kilometres per hour across a Level Crossing. No way Jose, that train will take between 1 and half kilometres to 2 kilometres to come to a FULL halt with ALL 3 Braking systems jammed on full. The vehicle ends up as a pile of twisted torn scrap metal, the occupants, usually, are not much more than a mess of blood, guts, bone, bits and pieces, spread throughout the vehicle and the surroundings which WE have to clean up and put into body-bags for the Paramedics to cart away. So please, do not talk to me about 'pressure cooker living' I've been there, done that and still have nightmares from time to time of the scenes I have been presented with at such disasters. Just try to imagine, IF you will, what you'd feel like when you arrived at a Car-Train impact site and the first sight to greet is that of a child, about 2 years of age, still in its car safety seat, hanging from a tree branch with its tiny arms and legs literally torn off, its head completely shattered, brain matter splattered everywhere and pool of blood on the ground underneath the tree, with parents and siblings turned into little more chunks that look like RED jam spread everywhere and anywhere.

Yep, unlike 'city folks, out here we are taught from childhood to 'read' the signs, etc, that nature shows. For example, Busy ants around their nests means rain is probably coming soo, snails climbing high up walls and fence then sheltering in their shells usually means the rains are going to heavy or even flooding. If you're lost in the bush, watch the flocks of birds in the mornings and evenings, they will lead you to water just as do the 'roos and emus. Trees, especially the Gum Trees will always grow biggest around 'soaks' in creeks, just dig down in the sand and you'll find a enough water to drink/quench your thirst. It's a bloody pity that so many from the "Big Smoke' don't bother to learn these things because IF they did then there would better chances of their survival IF they got lost out here in the 'Back of Nowhere.'

La Nina = the Girl Child in Spanish, means a great probability for good rains for the inlands of the country, not so hot a Summer, La Nina is the opposite of El Nino ( the Boy Child in Spanish) which usually means dry to drought conditions and very hot summers.

@Amzungu Hear, Hear, when I started as a nurse back in the early 70's my FORTNIGHTLY pay was, after tax, $183.90 for doing 8 hour shifts. Female nurses on the same Grade as me were getting an average of $15 - $20 per fortnight more than I was and a 'newbie' Cop was raking in $298.50 per fortnight. When I left nursing with my 5 Certificates in hand I was still receiving LESS than the female nurses and way less than any Cop. For the shit, crap, threats, etc, etc, nurse have to face each shift they are still way, way underpaid when compared to the wages 'Pork Chops' get. Try getting ANY 'Pork Chop' to clean up the blood, guts and vomit at an accident or in an A&E Department, you'd have more luck getting a fish to breathe air and live out of water.

So, at guess, I'd say chances are you've never worked as a nurse in a hospital A&E Department onwhat we nurses used to " Freaky Fridays and Savage Saturdays" then. @DaleGoldsberry Well, speaking both medically and somewhat scientifically, when ANY cell dies( expires) then it simply decays away into the atoms/molecules/elements from which it was made of at the beginning. Ergo, it becomes re-cycled into nature and then becomes a part of something else such a nutrients for plants, fungi, worms, etc, etc, and so the cycle goes on and on again and again. For example, A tree dies, it falls to the ground, its cell structures begin to decay and rot away, termites, fungi, etc, etc, begin to devour it as well until nothing remains of the tree BUT the elements that once were that tree are now re-cycled and re-used by other things to allow them to also live, grow, survive and reproduce, so it is with humans. I, as both a Nurse in hospitals and a parent, have seen people die, even my own much beloved daughter, yet never ONCE have witnessed ANYTHING that can be remotely labeled as being a 'SOUL' depart from a dead/dying body.

@Fred_Snerd I thinkyou'll find that in most cases any childs mind is a somewhat blank space and open to accepting what ever input it can get. Ergo the poblem/sd are NOT with the mind of the child but the mindset of the Adults, etc, around the child in particular. For example, my Dad brought me completely opposite to how my 'mother' did and treated me, when I asked any question/s of my Dad then I'd be certain of getting straight answers in words, etc, to suit and fit my age and understanding, hence, I learned early of reality, facts, science, logic, reasoning, etc, etc. However from my 'mother' the answers received where either, " Go ask your father, " or, in the case of religion, "Read the Bible." As the father of my daughter I adopted the same stance as my father used with me, i.e. she'd ask a question and I'd give her the answer in terms and words to suit and fit her current capabilities and capacities of understanding, etc. By the time she was around 7-8 years of age she knew and understood things like 'Where babies came from and how they were made," "how animals reproduced," that cartoons were just fiction as was Father Xmas and the Easter Bunny, etc, had a code of Morals and Ethics, knew and understood that everyone should be responisible for their acts, etc, and accept the same as well as assume responsibility for them. Some 3 years after her passing from cancer I learned, to my huge surprise, and pride btw, that my unassuming daughter was the very first person ever to elected by a unanimious vote of her Peers to be Chairperson of the locally recognised City Youth Council, and had been elected to the position aged at just 12 years and 6 months, held the position for 3 terms in Office and was very well respected by both her fellow youths and the Adult City Coucillers as well. One of her 'little secrets." So, imo, what you put into the mind of your child/children often determines what kind of an person they will become. i.e. Teach your children what is Right and Good, hold not the truth back from them, show them the respect you desire from them and you will have a child/children well worthy of being considered as a True and Decent Person and a member of the Human Race, do the opposite and the onus is upon your shoulders.

The Axial tilt, according to Scientists, etc, causes the two hemispheres to alternate in the their proximity to the Sun as Earth orbits it thus determining which hemisphere is in Winter and which is in Summer. Plus IF, as @PossilblyNuts stated, the Goldilocks Zone was a mere 142 kilometres wide then given the diameter of the Earth at the Equator, logically, then only ONLY a band of 142 kilometres of the planet would be within the Goldilocks Zone and habitable for life would it not? Aunty ScumMo took care of that. My Stihl MS181 chainsaw is around 10 years old now so I used his 'kind' stimulus money and purchased a Baumr-AG 52cc, 20" new one for just under $290 plus a few luxuries as well. Read through the 'destructions' ( Instructions) booklet on the Hot Water Heater on Wednesday to find out that, surprise, surprise, it has a twin heater element system, a 10 year warranty on the tank plus the elements are warranted for non-replacement for 4 years as well depending on water conditions. The sacrificial anode on this one is really easy to access and I can change it every 3-4 years to stop corrosion attacking the water tank. I've set the thermostat at 65 Celsius and the showers, etc, are now just perfect, the old one had a fixed thermostat unit and the water temps were around 80 Celsius, almost scalding level.

I think that you will find that the "goldilocks zone" is a whole lot bigger than a mere 142 kilometres wide. Winter in the Northern Hemisphere occurs when the Axial Tilt causes the Nortern Hemisphere to be FURTHEST from the Sun and vice versa in the Southern Hemisphere btw.

Yes, I agree to a point but what about those who are left behind mourning the loss of a loved one or loved ones? The convicted are still breathing air, eating food, etc, etc, and living to some extent whilst their victims are dead and buried with their lives cut short, etc. Some of the worst of the worst murderers even get to become 'cult' idols and have books and movies written and made about them, they get certain privileges for good behaviour, free education, exercise routines are available for them, etc, etc, but what do the victims get, IF their bodies are found and buried by family/friends, etc, NOTHING but a hole in the ground and a headstone mostly. Sciences states, and proves btw, that, for example plants (also living things btw) taking nutrients from the soil and water, use sunlight and a chlorophyl to cause a reaction known as Photosynthesis to make sugars that conatin the energy that plants then convert to the necessities for them grow amd reproduce. Ergo, Energy is NOT created by the living things, it is just sourced from the nutrients the living thing obtains from the environment in which it lives.
