Something positive which also has religious undertones, yet I see it more a HUMANITARIAN. [nytimes.com]
Well, The Taliban and the government managed a truce for the duration of Eid. The world saw Government and militant forces hug each other in greetings and wishes for peace. Unfortunately Daesh (IS, ISIL, ISIS) didn't join in.
Now that Eid is over, I presume that Monday will see hostilities restored.
It would be wonderful if we could have peace in Afghanistan. How about world peace? Wouldn't that be terrific? Maybe all the countries of the world could stop producing weapons and get rid of their armed forces and spend the on improved infrastructure, education, and health care.
This has always been the nature of war. This war has gone far longer then it should have but so has the one in Syria and many other places that are undeclared. People always try to find a more peaceful way which is laudable. The way I see it, unless the root cause of war is dealt with they will continue. The root cause is a lack of resources for the people of a country and measures are taken to obtain said resources needed for survival. Religion always exacerbates the situation.
