Any Latinos in the group?
American of Mexican heritage here. Family from Texas. I don't have a Spanish accent but I do have a Texas twang.
Latina here!
from where?
@Zoohome El Paso, TX. Mexican-American, what about you?
@MichelleGar1 ah! Brazilian, born there. Working on my summer family vacation, I almost booked my flight to El Paso.
@Zoohome Wow! If you ever come here let me know! We can meet up for lunch or dinner and drinks!
@MichelleGar1 RIGHT? That would be great! I was trying to figure out how to get to Grand Canyon without digging a hole in my pocket. Allegiant flies to you But AA wasn't that bad going to Albuquerque (my original plan). But next time!
Be sure to let me know if you ever drive through FL. My town is the classic overnight for all other states driving to Orlando or SFL.
@Zoohome The Grand Canyon is so beautiful! Hope you enjoy your visit there! Definitely if I ever go back to Florida and I am in your area I will let you know! It would be fun! Albuquerque is a cool city, enjoy your visit there too!
@MichelleGar1 It is Grand Canyon and then Mesa Verde. Starting and ending in ABQ. It will be a fun circle full of amazing views. I am still working on details. @glennlab is helping me plan.
if you have anything that you think is a must, let me know. When the msgs start working again, I will pm you.
@MichelleGar1 I just got back from the sky walk on the Grand Canyon, neat but not really worth the $$ . I'm still on pace to be in EP sometime next week. I was i 4 national parks yesterday, finishing with the grand canyon. close to 700 pics so far. My camera will get a rest since they don't allow them in the Pink concert.
@glennlab Wow!!!! Sounds like you're having fun! I remember the cost to go into the Grand Canyon being kinda steep but worth it, I didn't go to the Sky Walk part, now I know that it's ok that I didn't! Lol! Well hope you have a great rest of your trip and be safe, see you soon!
@MichelleGar1 I have a lifetime pass due to my VA disabilty, so no cost going into the parks, the skywalk was $90
@glennlab That's great! $90 is too much!
@MichelleGar1 It's Disneyland prices, I figured I waas already there and you only live once. Not going to do it again. The free site on the eastern part of the canyon was almost as good and they don't allow cameras on the skywalk itself. first pic isfrom the free site, second from the skywalk area.
@glennlab The free site pic is so much prettier! Yeah Disneyland costs more than $90, it's a $120 to get in last I heard! Grand Canyon so much better than Disneyland!
Si, Puerto Rico.
@happyaprn18 De Santurce, parada 18, estudie en Sagrado Corazon, graduado de la Superior Central. Todavia le escribo canciones a la isla. Bienvenida. Me recuerdas mucho las indias de mi tierra.
@happyaprn18 ?Eres Salsera o Rockera?
Hi, Happy,
I'm part Cherokee from my mom's side, and my dad had a great-grandmother who was half Aztec Indian.

Yes, right here
You don't sound Latin. lol
many. There are specific groups too, at least one that is call portuguese. But I am not sure there is a Latino Group. You should create one
I host a group called Minority Heathens on here, I can't post any news articles about the subject because I only have the app on my phone t can't get one for my computer. When I try to copy and paste it doesn't work on here.
happyaprn18 asked this question (see below) to get ideas about reconciling personal agnostic beliefs within a religious family. Here are my thoughts: A lot of ethnic culture, including the Latin one, revolves around religion. We can participate in these traditional activities without believing in the religion behind them. For me, Religion = Superstition + Spirituality. We can discard the Superstition of the beliefs and practices while still getting some spirituality and community from them. A mistake I find that Anglo atheists make is discarding the baby with the bathwater, rejecting everything and everyone connected with religion. This happens because Anglo culture is more individualistic and individuals are "deracinated." Many have lost their "raices." However, if you are able to keep your roots and your personal agnostic beliefs, you will be respected.
Depends if you think spanish is latino. Apparently there's quite a divide
Let me guess CCRN or Nurse Practitioner.
Whats a Latrine o ?
I'm not Latino. But I'm wondering what is your point in making this racist joke?
The United States Census uses the ethnonym Hispanic or Latino to refer to "a person of Dominican, Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race
@LadyAlyxandrea
OK ! thank you. Did not mean to offend anyone. If I did I apologise.
@VAL3941 it was the "latrine o" that people took offense to. But since you explained that you legitimately didn't know and apologized we cool
@LadyAlyxandrea
I can now see why ? Latrine o waz a typo. I must check more carfully in future.
@VAL3941 because latrine is a word for toilet, so it could have been taken to mean something degrading or insulting.
@LadyAlyxandrea
It is over and done, no good will come from more talk around this subject, and thanks again.
@happyaprn18 I think you asked a great question. Latinos can struggle together on the various issues that affect them: aid for Borinquen, help for border migrants, etc. United we stand; divided we fall! I speak Spanish and living in FL, I am very immersed in Latin culture. Also, coming from a traditional culture myself, I understand the personal beliefs vs. family issue myself. I'll put an idea out there in a separate response...
