I tell my granddaughter that our home is not a democracy and she does not get a vote.
She immediately fires back with since you and mom control all the money, I think it's an oligarchy.

In this particular instance we were engaging in some repartee which our family considers bonding lol but we are fairly permissive about back talk as long as it doesn't come while we are reading them the riot act.
I have always felt that if they understand the why, that compliance was more likely. It appears my daughter is raising hers the same way.
Doing a damn fine job educating that future voter!
