The march of thosands of people from South America coming here...the number keep changing and growing. If half the country is seriously convinced we are now a racist country were people like them simply get murder and their kids will be separated to feed monsters or whatever....you have to ask yourself, why are they coming and why now? Why now it's the easy part, midterms desperate distraction to shift votes. The why part of the question is more complex. Those people know how immigration works and they understand the risk and what needs to be done to beat the system. They have done it for years and years. Why a march then? What if some few were told come over the door is open now? Of course they will believe what they want to believe and the numbers have pass the milestone to ever find out who started it. Whoever is orchestrating this madness to put that many people at risk, that is the real enemy. I am not asking to agree/disagree. I am not even interested in endless useless discussions. I am only asking you to think about it.
Whenever there is a huge media event I look the other way....not to ignore the reported problem, but to see what the hucksters are doing while attention is diverted.
It's always good to cover all options
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore"
Those were other times and those words were uttered with a purpose. What we are experiencing today has nothing to do with that.
Thinking about these poor desperate people. We have so many manual labor jobs in the US in the fields and factories that no Americans want. Trump is a racist who wants a white Amerika.
"We have so many labor jobs in the fields...." Listen to yourself, you want those poor people as slaves for peanut wages then? Isn't that the rhetoric about rich getting richer that everyone loves to complaint about but it's OK to bring a caravan of ilegals to exploit them with cheap labor?
@IamNobody Thank you. Too many of us think this country is the land of milk and honey and want to urn the US int a global social worker. one big reason tRump won is too many people are fed up with too lax rules and an ignoring of the ones that are there. My late partner came here on a student visa and then got trapped when the Iranian revolution hit. She spent years and tons of money getting her citizenship legally and got really upset when so many others flaunted the law and got away with it. This is an area most never hear of. It is WRONG!!!
@JackPedigo It is wrong indeed and like you have clearly explained, it's not fair to a the ones following the rules doing things by the book. It's a though fight because many handle or know only the emotional part of it. Little by little with enough conversation, everyone eventually will understand the reality of the situation. Thanks for sharing that story.
@IamNobody Immigration (at least that based on reason) is a real polarizing issue among 'liberals'. Way too often, like the conservatives they let emotion get in the way. You don't know my story and I have posted it many times. The basic idea was created by my partner with a question she asked her 2nd graders: What is more important, people or dirt?. The Humanist group took that a bit further and asked which is more important, people or the planet. It is my/our contention that that which sustains a people is the most important. Immigration must not be about individual people but the system under which all (citizens and immigrants) live!
