When the person you thought you couldn't live without turns out to be a paranoid delusional narcissist and a conspiracy-addled supporter of both Donald Trump and Alex Jones, you pick up and move on, and rebuild as you can.
I feel like I'm finally over the hump though, and am beginning to rocket forward in earnest. It takes time, but even your worst breakup experience doesn't have to define you.
For clarity: We didn't break up over her supporting Trump. If you love someone it shouldn't matter who they vote for. But I could never again date someone whose politics are so heavily steeped in simple lies, I'll say that.
Obviously there's a lot more to the story, but my point here is that I'm finally feeling like I'm past the point of breaking away from the breakup, if that makes sense.
Keep yourself sane. Real love and caring is a two way street. Sometimes people get "sick." However, certain illness has no good cure and will suck you down the drain pipe if you allow it to do so.
How long were you together?
Less than a year.
KUDOS for sticking to your guns. My ex husband of 20 years became a trumpster and it damaged our friendship.
