Am I the only one that doesn't pay any attention to points or levels
I know we humans like to read all kinds of things into these they feel it implies but I have no negative value judgments attached to this one. If you do or not I really have no opinion or judgment about it. It just seems like everyone is really focused on them but me at times.
I find that I look at my points level from time to time but it REALLY annoys me that I do. As if I am driven by the need for s tee shirt that I will never wear!!!! I am working on it and my attachment dependency in this area has reduced over recent months. I am here for the sparkling repartee not to date or get a tee shirt?
My level 8 tee was a complete surprise as i do not even know how to find those points you all keep talking about.......maybe because I run Android?
No, and the posts about people just posting to get more points are annoying AF.
I’m pretty tired of the point whores who just put up one worthless post after another. I have plenty of t-shirts and couldn’t care less about getting one more. Besides, I see they’re for sale here if I really wanted one. My suggestion would be that points should be allocated to quality posts, perhaps based on getting some number of likes.
And a point deduction for just typing LOL as a comment (double point deduction if it is the first comment).
@ATDayHiker Lol! That couldn't be true. Where did that come from?
@CaroleKay Why type LOL as the only text when the Like button serves the same purpose? Of course, your comments are always insightful and well written, and deserving of double points (not that you need the points).
@ATDayHiker I just don't see why points would be deducted. It's hard to believe is all. I don't think Admin would ever remove points. And I have commented Lol.
@CaroleKay I was just adding to the suggestion above regarding ways to reward the quality of posts, and I was just kidding about deducting points (but zero points for an LOL might be appropriate).
@ATDayHiker Oh! Lol. That doesn't bother me. What rubs me the wrong way is when a member tries to be first to reply on their own posts. There was a lady here that used to do that a lot, it was annoying.
@ATDayHiker I do that sometimes, but it's for an afterthought or to expand on something I said in the main post.
I just started to because I'm almost half way to 9. Then my points froze...lmao! I was trying to stay at 100,000 but my points stopped short.
It's HUGE here and all the drama! I got a cool shirt and a pen though.
I don't have any negative value judgment, just wondering why it's so important to so many is all. I really understand the reasons behind it and in the lower levels, there are good reasons to want to level up. I really am shocked by the amount of attention this post has gotten. I didn't figure anyone would notice it really. Must have hit a nerve. I imagine I would pay closer attention if I was really close to a new level so I get that too. I really had no judgment attached to this post. Maybe it's because I'm not a gamer so racking up points doesn't appeal to me. I just bought my t-shirt.
Once you get past Level 6 there is not much point in paying close attention, but the newer folks who are trying to get through the lower levels will care more.
