I buy what I want when I want and when I can afford it. I don't treat myself for holidays but I treat myself for goals accomplished. Like when I got my new job...I bought a lot of clothes and got my hair done ( It needs re-doing). I buy presents for kids ( my nieces) but everyone else understands I don't don't do it for grown ups and I don't send cards either --- except Aunt Linda who really wants that damn card and letter every year lol. I'll tip my service people who are currently just 2 drivers and a super who is a creep - na- I am not tipping the super this year -forget that. @Jolanta I am so with you on that. I don't want anything. Unless treating me to dinner or a show - that's nice. I just do not want "stuff".
Absolutely not. I buy AFTER XMAS gifts for anytime I need to give a gift in the future. 90% off is very advantageous to my bottom line. Gotta love those christians. Taking advantage of the tax laws I give myself a nice write off by giving 10% of my income to my favorite not-for-profits. Philanthropy is so rewarding for me. As a 6 year old child, I vowed that when I grew up, I would be a philanthropist. My peers had no idea what I was talking about. Little has changed.
You knew the word philanthropist at 6? I am impressed! J/k - I work in non-profit and we look forward to year end givers like you. Thanks for what you do!
@Countrywoman I had trouble pronouncing that crazy word till high school! LOL!!
I buy myself lots of lovely gifts every year. The Best is to buy all year & immediately wrap them, then on the day you actually are surprised, plus impressed with your excellent taste!
I’m single. I always buy me a gift. What sucks is when it’s some ugly-ass, pink elephant that I want to hide in the closet until I, too, can gift it to some other poor schmuck.
ha ha ha You need to get a personal shopper for your personal shopper...
Nice...I don't do Christmas, but I do take advantage of the sales...
My gifts to myself are mostly practical...an espresso maker...
LOL! Because we woulda never got out of those caves without one of those! You go!
@AnneWimsey As I get older, my priorities change...an espresso machine keeps me from buying out each day and keeps the caffeine I need to keep going in my body!! So yes, it get me out of my cave...ha ha...plus, I have all I need so during the holidays, I treat myself to something a bit frivolous but still practical..ha ha
@thinktwice perfect definition of "gift", something you do not need but Want!
Got myself a Christmas gift, as is my habit. "To Kathleen from Santa." When you get what you want, everything else is gravy.
My gift is "Unsheltered" by Barbara Kingsolver, one of my favorite authors. Trouble is, I couldn't resist reading it now.
oh...I love her! I will put it on my wishlist for the family...they never know what to get me! ha
She is awesome! On my list.
I always get myself a Christmas gift. Not quite sure what this year.
