I know The Mail is not exactly the most cutting edge of current affairs reportage, but, still an’ all. So, English restaurants are being told to ban Mexican avocados because of Mexican drug cartels! Looks like no Columbian coffee then. Let’s take all these sub USA drug cartels out once and for all. I mean, would it REALLY hurt to drink tea instead of coffee???? Although? Do I detect some influence from our friends in the American government trying to shaft Mexico? Or is that me being silly, after all I don’t normally understand grown ups games?
Just like everything else printed in the Daily Mail, this story appears to be a massive pile of bollocks: all that has happened is two restaurants have decided not to serve avocado for much the same reason many restaurants stopped serving whale meat - environmental cost. The Mail, typically, has spun something more dramatic out of it. They have a habit of producing stories such this, which get "decent, right-thinking, honest British folk" all riled up and stops them paying attention to proper news, whenever something the Mail doesn't like is happening - for example, Theresa May getting hammered in the Commons, as has been happening this week.
Nice one thought it seemed a non story!
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry after reading that item. The yuppies like Kirsty Allsop are whining, that in itself is funny....but when we find out that the name Avocado comes from a Nahuati Aztec Indian word “ahuacati” which means testicle....we’ll all I can say is this sounds like another “load of bollocks” from the Daily Mail, one of the worst sort of right-wing rags, but nevertheless is treated like the gospel by the undereducated British masses.
Ok had to read that a couple of times.
So let me get this straight,
Mexican drug cartels who make billions of dollars off the production, trafficking and distribution of every illicit drug that they can have now decided to go into the legitimate business of avocados and the British government is like
“ those are not drugs they’re a legitimate food source and you shouldn’t have anything to do with them “
And I thought that we were stupid over here ?
Anyway considering that we’re Mexico’s biggest competition in the avocado market you’ probably right about our involvement.
