Why can't the public propose to place on a ballot what they believe should be a law?
Well you may nto be able to tell it by todays elected office holders, but originaly it was thought tht those who woudl be elected woudl be educated and able to do the best or right thing over what was just onlypopular.
Putting laws up for election would nto be of a mob rule sitation rather than what the founders intended.... not that we got what the founders intended, but what we do have is still better than mob rule.
Examples are abortion, immigration, health insurance. I know it is Congress that makes the law but we should be able to make them take up a law we want to have. other examples are public funding of campaigns, limited advertising of campaigns, drugs and others like term limits.
