People reach out at Christmas with greetings and gifts. Did you get any annoying greetings?
I did! 2 of my friends sent me a link to an annoying YouTube video of a 4 year old singing Felice Navidad at the top of his little lungs. A phone call or thoughtful message would have been wonderful but that ?? ... well that pissed me off.
Another eye roller is Christmas newsletters, bragging about their vacations and children's accomplishments. Gag.
I got a Christmas card that annoyed my fundamentalist Southern Baptist father-in-law, Roy. I had to show it to him because I thought it was funny.
The card showed Darth Vader in front of a Christmas tree with a storm trooper. Darth said "Remember, I get to put the Death Star on the tree." Inside the card it said "Happy Sithmas."
He said it was making fun of Christianity. The wife (also a Southern Baptist) stopped me before my standard reply "It's not much of a religion if it can't survive satire."
A couple of weeks ago a friend said his wife took a bus trip out of state with friends to see a play titled Jesus. I thought it was funny she went to Lancaster to see Jesus and still be back by midnight ... of course he had to tell his wife, who had to take offense. I just told him Jesus evidently has broader shoulders than many of his followers.
Star Wars fans go all out with Christmas trees decked out as Dar Vader; its quite amazing: [pinterest.ca]
Jeez7s, I hate that annoying song! And a 4 year old "singing"?!!! You need new friends!
@maturin1919 I like people who make me laugh, dance, admire my karaoke efforts. "Singing" 4 yr olds, and Feliz Navidad ( they run out of words only 1/3 of the way through the song) not so much. You?
@maturin1919 ... what I appreciate is a personal message with a simple 'Merry Christmas' or whatever vs only a link.
