Pet Peeve! When you leave me a message, whether on my answering machine or thru voicemail, could you, ferpetessake, IDENTIFY yourself?
ASSuming I will know who you are is IMO both foolish and arrogant, a "great" combination.....
If you find yourself constantly juggling between commitments and struggling to manage incoming calls and messages, you can ask for help. Take it from my experience as a busy assistant; with meetings filling my schedule daily, staying on top of communication became a challenge. Seeking a viable solution, I explored various options and successfully partnered with Call Service. The key was simplicity. They ensured I could maximize my schedule by coordinating efficiently, even during my busiest moments.
Well, if you are a busy person and can't often answer phone calls or messages throughout the day, you might consider starting working with an assistant. I am a wedding planner, and since I have events almost every day, it was nearly impossible to answer all my phone calls and messages, so I started looking for options. After some searches, I spoke to TMC, believing this was the best solution. The only thing I did was to create a google doc where we both had access so we knew when I was busy or not to make sure we could book as many events as possible.
I am out cutting brush/trees, gardening, running errands I "ganged" to avoid Covid, etcetcetc so no, I am not sitting there & therefore do not generally answer my home phone. (Or i just sat down after working outdoors with a nice iced coffee).
My cell generally lives in my car so unless I am in the car, I do not answer becuz duuuh.
An answering machine fulfills the exact function of an old-fashioned butler, except people with Manners left their calling card.
If you have someone that does this to you all the time... Get even.
Wait until they go on vacation and then leave them a voicemail midway through that simply states, "Please disregard the first message... Everything is fine now!"
It will drive them CRAZY!
Loving this!
And if you leave a message, be sure you are in a quiet location and/or have a good connection. If you can't be sure of that, follow up with a text or email spelling out your message.
I get so many business inquiries over the phone, but can't hear due to wind or poor connection. I'll play the message several times and still can't make heads or tails of it. If I can see a phone number, I don't know if the caller is in my time zone or their own, so I might text back to ask they try calling again, texting or email me at ... So many times I put the phone number into a search engine, but it doesn't help to identify, except the known autocallers.
My pet peeve was always people who talk SOOO SLOWLY until they get to their phone number and then they spit it out in a mumbled, unintelligible rush.
Oh, yeah, another classic move.....Suddenly the cocaine kicks in!
i generally don't have that problem. my problem is it'll be a callback to a message i myself have left, in which i not only have identified myself properly and given my number clearly but asked for the recipient PLEASE to put the answer to my question into the message -- and the person will not leave any further message than who they are and their number! there is no need for that kind of phone tag. if i am asking "did you get the thing i sent?" then a callback message could say "yes, i got it" or "nope, not yet" and that would be the end of it!

Seems like such a no-brainer, right? Oh, wait.......
