Sadly the same reason we have trump is the same reason why we had Jesus Christ and Hitler.
One portion of society felt as though another portion of society was attempting to eliminate who they are so you look for someone who acts fearless and championing your cause without being told to do so.

I’ve tried to tell people that it’s not trump that they really wanted because most of the people I’ve talked don’t fully trust him but he’s standing up to the people who his supporters believe want to change their world and beliefs.
