Wait a minute. Why weren't the adults vaccinated to begin with?

Adults born between 1957 and 1967 got a killed virus vaccine that was later proven not to be effective...it could be they thought they were vaccinated...

@thinktwice Huh, I didn't know that. I wonder if I got one ? I just remember the polio koolaid & the smallpox.
I think if adults are going to expect infants to get this shot they need to get one too.

@powder I also got a mild case so I am sure it built up my immunity...I was vaccinated in 1960.

@Qualia You would think, right? Why not do all you can to protect your child and the vulnerable...I checked because I am of that age and worried about passing stuff to the little ones...I did get a whooping cough vaccine recently and shingles when I was 60...I just need the pneumonia shot this year...

@thinktwice I'd rather adults get these shots than infants.
Wait until they're older and immune systems better able to deal, but that gets lumped in with "anti vax" these days ?
I got a pneumonia shot years ago, still got pneumonia in 2014 ??
Funny have my 1st respiratory mess since then, not sure if sinus infection, cold or what, but am taking Tamiflu atm. I carry around a little spray bottle of 90% isoprophyl & spray all the things like a lunatic. Maybe coincidence but it's been 5 years...

But...but...Mercury!!..fucking idiots..hope their kids get it...that'll change their moronic minds right quick..

Perhaps, when we do get single payer healthcare, parents who fail to get their kids vaccinated shoudl have to still pay for the costs of medicare when their kids get sick from preventable diseases. Just to keep the new taxes down. I don't think anybody wants to pay taxes to enable stupidity.

I guess it would be prudent for vulnerable adults to get vaccinated again...I was born before 1957 ...ugh...this is horrible...my younger brother nearly died of measles before there was a vaccine...

Mine too....raving with IV's in, I think age 12ish....

@AnneWimsey Mine was 3...we were in a poor country with limited resources...my parents kept him in a dark cool room with no light and limited contact...horrible...

How's he doing? No lasting effects?

@Charlene He is a sexy, awesome, wonderful father of three kids, six grandkids...who loves dogs and cats and would help out anyone he can...

@thinktwice that's awesome!

A great number of people don’t realise that childhood illnesses like measles can be killlers, and are often much deadlier to the adult population than to children. I despair when I hear anti- vaxxers spread their non scientific theories and gullible people believe them. It seems we are going backwards instead of forwards, when vaccines were discovered in the 19th and early 20th century they were universally embraced as a way forward to eradicate these illnesses completely. Now idiots wirh no scientific knowledge, or dangerously little, are peddling scare stories, sometimes for profit, like Dr. Wakefield, and millions stop vaccinating their children. The herd immunity is then lost and epidemics break out.
