So we not gonna talk about the Pope admitting the nuns were sex slaves???? Oh, ok... ?☕️
What was that movie in the 70s or 80s about the nun... I think it had Jane Fonda in it. And the nun got pregnant, scandal ensued. I think she tried to claim it was immaculate conception or something, investigation followed...
I can't remember. I was probably only 4 or 5 when that movie came out, lol. I was a weird child to remember that. I think we had the paperback around the house at one point.
There's been a lot of talk about on Reddit. I'm not surprised by it considering the type of mentality the church has. It's disgusting, wrong and deplorable to think in this period of time there are things like this still happening. How sickening. What is wrong with people is a question that I will ask myself for the rest of my life.
Religion never ceases to amaze me. How can anyone defend it, is beyond my comprehension.
Not the nuns I had in school...no way...they were way cool...
Don't bet on it, you'd lose your money quick as Pan.
@Triphid There is danger is applying ALL when the investigation involves one particular church...we here constantly point out and defend using sweeping accusations. The nuns that taught us were educated, well spoken, devout and moral..they were happy to answer my questions and probably even knew that I would not stay with the religion...so kindly don't disparage when you did not have direct experience as I did...I would say the same thing when someone says all Muslims are terrorists.
@thinktwice They MAY have seemed so to you, etc, but it IS what goes on behind the scenes that is in question here.
I grew up in a house that backed onto a Catholic School with the Ministers Residence right next door to it.
Our house, and my bedroom, stood on a much higher piece of land than did the Catholic School, etc, and having recurrent bouts of Pneumonia and Bronchitis throughout the years of my childhood I was forced to stay in my bedroom and my only view was that of the School, etc, the goings on I saw , were I to write a book, it would be classed as XXX rated BEFORE it ever hit the shelves OR have innumerable bans placed on it by the Catholic Church.
By Canon Law your beloved and admired Nuns ARE forced to wear 'two hats,' i.e. the hat of sexual availability to the Priests when NOT in public, etc, and, b) the 'hat' of piety, purity, morality, etc, when in public.
The Catholic Church and its nefarious goings on, etc, are darker and more vile than the deepest pits of any coal mine and you can be assured of that fact.
@Triphid I acknowledge your experience...it was not mine and I am not going to be one of those who uses ALL in any conversation...
@thinktwice Er, since when and where did I say the word "all" in my comments, etc?
@Triphid I said it...I won't use an implied ALL nor will I accept it from others...like I said, I know people share their own stories and I am sharing mine...I made no reference to you saying it...I was merely responding to your comment to me that I was perhaps naive and there was no validity to my experience...I appreciate your comments but I maintain that the nuns in my life were good people that added to my life despite my later rejecting the Catholic religion...
Religion is in general about control. How best to control women than to humiliate and subjugate them. How anyone still believes in the church is beyond me.
They were just following the old testament....women are property and have no rights....and just here for the amusement of men.
Can any news about the Catholic Church actually shock anyone anymore?
