Someone on here recently did a post pertaining to the recent sex scandal in Virginia (Lt Governor Fairfax), and how the Democrats are quick to calling for Fairfax to resign while the Republicans did not do the same to Kavanaugh. This is a good read- [newsmax.com]

Due process is not some mere fallacy as some Democrats would have you believe, it is there to make sure every citizen gets a fair trial. Too many people these days fall back on their emotions first without thinking critically at all angles, and that's a recipe for disaster. The freethinkers of this world should never automatically believe first what someone says or claims, not without examining any and all evidence first. Personally, I don't take sides when such an issue as an alleged sexual assault comes up, I wait to arrive to judgment until I hear out both sides and all evidence comes out. Automatically believing what people say first without challenging their claims is how humanity ended up with the vile plague known as religion.

What a laugh I have had from the responses here. Unfortunately it was not a joyous laugh.
The first war started because someone managed to get food and wouldn't share it. The second war started because someone's wife nagged her husband into killing their neighbour and family because they had a bigger, drier or safer cave to live in, the third war started because a woman was refused sex by her neighbour and so made false accusations against that neighbour, the next war started because someone realised that all these wars were not doing the human race any good so in order to stop it they created religion and went to war against those who would not believe what they did. ... And so it continues, generally speaking women generally emotionally believe the gossip they are told, men want to see or hear the evidence. Egos will not allow change in many.

Besides balance...everything has labels...fat short skinny ...oh and describe a person in Congress...he's a black democrat...We are all people...
If I looked like ET then you can....... LABEL ME!

I don't believe anything is balanced today...and I despise the fact that crimanals are protected....if you are found guilty whether you are a politician.......or a celebrity....or a religious leader ....should be balanced no matter what status you hold.

I agree, balance is missing these days...

Ok I get where you’re going with this and yes due process should be exercised before he’s indicted but as for right now he should be suspended from his position until these accusations are fully investigated.

But you have to remember that the Democratic Party has chosen to a reactionary and even the presumption of wrongdoing is enough to justify the ending of someone’s livelihood.

And they can’t see the wrong in that because they’re in a war with the republicans, old rich white men, people who don’t follow the ever growing guidelines of political correctness, foreign countries that conduct business with Russia, Russia itself.

But I’m still waiting to see the war, against, hunger, homelessness, illiteracy and racial inequality really be fought. Hell I’d like to congratulate the war on drugs for winning the war on drugs.

So any fucking way you’re singing great song there but don’t expect a rousing round of applause from the society of the deaf and blind. ?

That's another good point, both political parties are at war with each other. I wasn't taking sides here though.

@SpikeTalon I know but I’m more than happy to that guy so it’s all good. ?

Due process doesn't apply to politics, as far as I know. There is a much lower standard when it comes to political office, I think much like ethics in the judicial system. The appearance of impropriety is the one that comes to mind. These issues go beyond the individual, extending to the system, and the integrity thereof.

Yes, of course, it's best to wait for the evidence. But sometimes... it might not matter if damage to the system has already been done.

Politics was just one example. The same thinking set should apply in all areas of life.

Maybe only women should be appointed to the highest court in the land until this gets sorted out.

Way less abuse committed sexually by women.
Then maybe we wouldn't have such questionable people representing us.
Heck Senate and Supreme Court too.

Yes women can abuse - but in far lower numbers.

Let's just vote women in. Temporary solution you understand? Just until the men sort this thing out.

That's not my point. The point is, we should never take at face value what someone says until there is enough evidence to support any claims. The mere fact that I have to bring this topic up to fellow atheists is... very concerning. Like I said, these days far too many people fall back on emotions first and think later on if at all. Over the years I've heard too many examples of people who had their lives ruined over false accusations, and I personally couldn't begin to imagine how horrible that must be to the individual on the receiving end of the accusation...

Additionally, what I mentioned above should apply to all areas of life, we should always be asking questions in which to get down to the truth.

@SpikeTalon I know. I've seen it tried here and stepped in to prevent the character assassination such a claim could create.
Making that up is toxic. And the appropriate place to report is site admin. Not a board.

Few would lie about such a serious topic. But it can happen.

What's worse is not being believed and no action being taken. There is a reason I hate the Vatican and all they represent.

Very few women would stoop to such low hanging fruit. But in politics there is a lot of threat and pressure that can be brought to bear as well.
Never a good mix.

I've had to do Psych interviews with rape and abuse victims and there's all kinds of training now to never lead them into reporting false claims.

It's a real task from all sides.

Meanwhile vote women! ?

@RavenCT I understand, it's a complex issue no matter how you look at it. I will gladly vote for women, and since no one said otherwise I will assume it's okay to vote for female Libertarian candidates😉
