No ones beating Trump!

gater Level 7 Feb 19, 2019

Yeah, you are happy with the status quo, happy that more and more people are homeless, don't have health care, get crap education, etc. etc.

@Jolanta Trump has been repairing this country from all the damages done by past administrations, it takes time.

@gater What, you call it repairing, to refuse people health care, to revoke laws about making it ok for companies to dump toxic waste into waterways, to revoke laws about banks being allowed to lend to people who cannot afford those loans. What kind of person are you, who don't care about your own country men and women.

@Jolanta Why don't you support Trump? - hes fighting for America - don't you care about Americans?

@gater If he was fighting for America than he would do something for Americans not just for the rich Americans. Did you not understand a word of what I said. I can tell you that I care for all people around the world, Americans are no more special than French, Chinese, Venezuelans, Africans, etc, etc. It is about all the people not just some.

@Jolanta how about the lowest unemployment for minorities in history? Millions off of food stamps ..

@gater These idiots are so obsessed and blinded with Trump hate syndrome they are unable to see what’s good for America

@Emanuele That's right - they call him a racist and some black people claim Trump has done more for them any president in history.

@MissGreta You're a true moron - learn some facts.

Although I don't want Bernie in the race, if he won the primary I would wholeheartedly support him in the general election. Unlike Bernie's supporters in 2016.

I voted for Sanders in the primary, for Clinton in the general. Don't slam all of us. 😉

While I generally like Bernie, he is not electable. Too far left in most peoples' eyes. And while I'm "old" also, it's an issue. We need younger people in top positions who are in touch with more of the general population. IMHO

Why is he not electable? Because he is old? Because he is too far left? What does all that mean actually. To me it sounds like some kind of propaganda from his enemies.

No one ever said Trump was too far right. It's an argument invented by the right that centrists buy into.

Dog/Sea Otter 2020. And I’m a Bernie fan but this is a different race. In ‘16 Hillary needed to be pushed back to the left and the issues within the DNC were exposed with his run. A new generation took root thanks to him so I wish he’d step aside and let them bloom. Now I suppose Joe Biden will see Sanders and say well if he can I can. In a crowded field I could see Gabbard benefit. But I’m pretty sure the next POtuS will be a former pro wrestler at the current rate of decline. And yes, the VP will be a monster truck with AI and an energy drink paint job.

How old is Bidden?

Bernie, Tulsi and Warren are the only one who have an actual platform right now. The rest are blowing smoke up your ass

i like bernie. i like almost everyone who's thrown his or her hat into the ring, and a couple who are still thinking about it. i will listen carefully and see who makes the best case and vote accordingly in the primaries. whoever wins the democratic primaries has my vote in the general, even if s/he is not perfect (name someone perfect!) we cannot afford to be purists. voltaire said the best is the enemy of the good. he was right. boy was he right.

I do like Sanders, but I'm not sure at this time.

Why, you like things to stay the same?

@Jolanta There are a lot of Democrats running

However... just thinking about it now, if Sanders had won the primaries and became the Democrat's nominee in 2016, he probably would have beat Trump. Had that happened, and we were talking about this being the second term for Sanders, I don't think I'd hesitate to vote for him again.

@bingst So, what have changed for you now?

@Jolanta I meant in my reply, since making that comment.

I love Bernie, but I think it's time for something other than am old white man.

GwenC Level 7 Feb 19, 2019

And who do you think there is that would care so much for every American as he does?

@Jolanta I don't know yet. There are several that I'm keeping eye on right now. I'm still formulating an informed opinion.

@Jolanta I heard the same question asked to my father by a Fidel Castro's advocate

@DUCHESSA And what did you think about it?

@Jolanta I didn't at that time because I was very young and lacked the necessary knowledge....by years later -many times over- I understood why my father laughed so hard at his friend..yes, each time I heard a group of Cubans risked their lives to seek refuge / asylum in USA....each time one of my Cuban students narrated to us how much they suffered under the Castros.
I laugh, also, at those who adore the Che Guevara (Ernesto "Che" Guevara Lynch y de la Serna Unzué😉 ...whom grew up swimming in millions and whose family is one of the riches in ,y other country.
Solon, dear.

I understand. I would have voted for Warren or Sanders earlier because their stances both aligned with mine. Now, however, Warren seems to be trying to move more to the middle. I will vote based upon stances on the issue always. If it were Sanders against a black female Democratic Socialist I would vote for her, for the sake of diversity. But diversity in the actual candidate for me will always be a secondary consideration behind their stances. But of course I am a white male so this argument coming from me may have less validity.

No thanks. And I don't care how old he is.

So you want more of the same then.

@Jolanta Nope. I vote Libertarian and would never vote for Bernie regardless of his age.

@IAMGROOT Well so nothing will change.

@Jolanta I would never want Bernie or his politics to begin with. He wants to completely hijack the US economy and is wooing his followers with promises of free stuff. Sorry, but that is not the solution. We definitely have a problem in this country with the stranglehold the two parties have on the political system. What we need is REAL change, so vote Libertarian. They stand for what most people want anyway. More individual freedom and less gov't interference.

@IAMGROOT No, you are wrong. Bernie doesn't want to give away FREE STUFF, you need to listen better to him. What he wants is to stop the bailouts to Wall Street, stop the unfair distribution that is happening. He wants all Americans to benefit, not just the already rich. And why we are on the subject of Government interference then you are wrong too. Government is there to interfere, they are there to look after the people, they are there to make laws so people have clean air, can drink the water without being poisoned, can have a job that pays them a living wage, can buy that medicine that they need without it costing more than what they are earning, so yes Government interference is what is needed. What you don't need is lobbyists, lobbyists who give money to politicians and corrupt them.

@Jolanta You are grossly misinformed. The Constitution tries to LIMIT the power of government. What we have now is the unlimited ability by our government to tax (steal) from us by force (don't pay taxes, go to jail.). You are incredibly naive if you believe in and trust the government. The only thing I agree with you on here is the aspect of crony capitalism (which I only partially agree on because I have a feeling you agree with those who believe capitalism is inherently evil and has some dark agenda, it doesn't). I know there are dishonest businesses out there and the crony capitalists who are in bed with the government and receive unfair competitive advantages or outright monopolies from it. Furthermore, the corruption of politicians by special interest all originates within the government. The supposedly democratic system itself allows this. It should surprise no one that lobbying on behalf of special interests takes place. And I absolutely believe Bernie and those who think like him (he has managed to drag the Dems all the way to the left) is campaigning in large part on the promise of free stuff. Who pays for all of that. He already tried a version of medicare for all in his home state, it failed. How on earth could it work on a national scale in the US, it can't work without doubling (or worse) our taxes. Sorry for jumping back and forth here in my comment, but getting back to your assertion that government is here to protect the people; yeah, I live in California where taxation is incredibly high. Everything is legislated and gee, I sure as hell don't feel like I live in a utopia. Our biggest boondoggle, High Speed Rail (something I completely disagree with as an investment in infrastructure) just failed after going 10s of billions over-budget. Our government is working overtime at all levels making laws to "protect us." I feel no safer. What we need is less government, not more. Bernie represents the epitome of someone who wants to expand government exponentially. No thank you!

@IAMGROOT Oh you little groot capitalist. I guess you thinks so because it has been so good and working so wonderfully for all Americans, not. You know if it is so terrible in California and you have to pay so much tax, then go somewhere else. I can tell you that I have lived in three different countries under different political regimes and the best one was the social democratic one.

@MissGreta I don't disagree with you that the Libertarian party could use a charismatic presidential candidate, but even so, I believe the Libertarian party is the ONLY one genuinely interested in reducing the size and power of the government at all levels and increasing individual (and other) freedoms and liberties. I wholeheartedly support that and will never vote for an R or a D. I believe they are essentially doing the same thing despite what they say. We are living in truly interesting (and scary AF times) both politically and otherwise.

Bernie Sanders is 77 y/o. I don't want him for President.

Because he is 77, or>>?

@Jolanta By the time we gets elected (if) and takes over he will be close to 79 y/o. To me health is an issue when running the country.

@DUCHESSA Do you have any proof that he is sick?

@Jolanta Dear, your question is funny; Is not a matter of proof but of the fact that at 77 y/o the chances of becoming sick are a lot higher than when a person is 50 y/o. Yes, I know, many had a heart attack at 35 and passed........but are the exception.

Don't look for the cat's fifth leg...doesn't have one

@DUCHESSA What about mental health? tRump should have been red flagged.

@ChristophRobin Health, dear, involves all parts of the body. Trump may be a big mouth and he says all those things you (and many) don't like to hear...but certainly his mental health is not an issue.

Bernie & Kamala, AOC as SoS. Bernie serves four years, steps aside and gives the space to Kamala (who would serve two terms), and AOC would run for the oval office at that time.

84% of Americans want Medicare for All and Free four-year college. That number is larger than the 16% opposing it. Get on the bus or move out of the way: progress is coming.

Source:

You talk about "free college" as it was a novelty; in my other country college is free since 1930s....and up to my time it was excellent. Now...did you think of the disadvantages of free college? There are some.

I want new blood. No Bernie, no Biden, no Hillary. I like all of them but we need out of the same ol' same ol' Democrats. We have a chance for real change but that will not happen if we don't change the guards.
As far as who I like right now - we are way to early & I want to learn more about each candidate.

Bernie started the change, has fought for it all his life! And knows his way around the Congress and the world. Give hima tough new running mate! And BTW, Bernie is only 2 years older than drump, but by no means "an old white man"....Berbnie actually 5hinks!

@AnneWimsey Trump's too old too!

@AnneWimsey Have you actually studied Bernie's voting record? Progressive doesn't show up in the votes. The youth (anyone under 50) need a complete change to feel they are being heard. Bernie in reality (looking at his past stance on many issues) is the same as the other 2 I listed in my original comment. I am not saying Bernie is not needed but the need is in teaching/supporting the younger generation. If he backs whoever is chosen we gain the youth, the mature, the center & the left.

And where are you going to get that "new blood" from?

@Jolanta have you not seen the field? There are a ton of young, new energy running.

@Heidi68 There may be but they are not known. And that is very important.

@Jolanta they are known - they just haven' t been in the Senate for 50 years. 30 seconds of research and you will know exactly where they stand on policy, how they have voted. Do you think just because he is old it makes him better?

@Heidi68 No I don't think him being better because he is old. I think it makes him more experienced. Just like I think I have more experience in life that a 30 year old. I also think that Bernie is more known than any other young politicians, that doesn't mean that I think they are any less. You need to realise that most people don't know much about politics or politicians and what they stand for and they certainly don't go out of their way to find out, no matter how unfortunate that is.

Bernie is not the same old democrat. I do not understand why there are so many people against the idea of bernie? He is a he best choice for Americans as a whole. He will reform our system so that everyone will have an equal chance for the capitalist society we are presently engaged with.

@Jolanta I totally understand your last sentence but other than the over 50/60 crowd they are no more going to know Bernie vs Harris vs Warren vs Booker. What the under 50 crowd will know is he is old and to them old means same thing that has been going on since they turned 18. They want change.

@Heidi68 Maybe, but they seem to listen to his words.

@ChristophRobin have you actually studied his voting record?

2

Bernie and Beto 2020.

2

NO to Bernie Sanders.

Please add more options.

3

You should add an "Other" option.

5

Undecided but I wasn’t a Bernie fan four years ago and that hasn’t changed.

How come?

3

No thank you.
