Yes, and a strong middle class, lots & lots of upward mobility, moms staying home to supervise the kids & improve the community (for example, volunteer at the school--- no paid "aides"back then). You can also credit strong Unions!

It seems that this was a norm in Eisenhower's days. Today the super rich want it all and many have 10 or more yachts, so many cars you cannot count them, and houses all over the world. Services we take for granted in our country and going to hell, roads and infrastructure, etc. and nobody cares. America is trying the best it can at being an oligarchy. Nobody gives a damn about you, your water or food, your healthcare, or your land. You are offered an "America Dream" that is impossible to achieve unless you somehow become on of the elite.

This is why I have a half acre of land and live in a mobile home and have an average car. I have learned to live within my means because I know how bad the world really is. I do not want, but have become almost invisible.
